Often we run into friends an their acquaintances and they always seem to have this disdain look on their faces when we step out to smoke a joint. Its as if we are some lowlifes that have chosen the wrong path. We are intellectual, educated & mature grown ups that do like to occasionally smoke a joint and see nothing wrong with it. We are not causing a nuisance, slurring our words acting like a jackass then why are we being judged for smoking a joint. Its as if marijuana smokers are constantly under a spotlight.
“Don’t judge a book by its cover”, yep thats that cliche phrase but in this case its very apt. Try it and you might like it.
1.4 billion times 50 + all the money saved by not arresting and prosecuting nature lovers = a whole lotta money to bailout some more banks
“California could see a nearly $1.4 billion per year increase in state revenues were it to legalize marijuana, the state Board of Equalization says in an analysis of pending legislation to to do that.
The bill (Assembly Bill 390) by Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, D-San Francisco, is still awaiting its first committee hearing and is likely not to be considered until next year. It would impose not only sales taxes but a $50 per ounce fee on marijuana sales, which would be licensed by the state much as alcoholic beverages are regulated.
A new poll suggests that a majority of Americans are in favor of taxing and regulating the sale of marijuana.
From the Huffington Post:
Majority of Americans want Pot Legalized: Zogby Poll
A majority of Americans, in a poll released Wednesday, say it “makes sense to tax and regulate” marijuana. The Zogby poll, commissioned by the conservative-leaning O’Leary Report, surveyed 3,937 voters and found 52 percent in favor of legalization. Only 37 percent opposed.
A previous ABC News/Washington Post poll found 46 percent in support. In California, a Field Poll found 56 percent backing legalization.
Responding to the poll at a press conference Tuesday, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger called for an open debate on legalization.
Voters were asked: “Scarce law enforcement and prison resources, a desire to neutralize drug cartels and the need for new sources of revenue have resurrected the topic of legalizing marijuana. Proponents say it makes sense to tax and regulate the drug while opponents say that legalization would lead marijuana users to use other illegal drugs. Would you favor or oppose the government’s effort to legalize marijuana?”
52 percent. And… ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER. Do it now, Mr. Obama
Researchers in Spain have revealed that Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC, the main physcoactive component of marijuana) can have anticancer properties that may inhibit the growth of cancer in human beings.
From the Science Daily:
ScienceDaily (Apr. 9, 2009) — Guillermo Velasco and colleagues, at Complutense University, Spain, have provided evidence that suggests that cannabinoids such as the main active component of marijuana (THC) have anticancer effects on human brain cancer cells.
In the study, THC was found to induce the death of various human brain cancer cell lines and primary cultured human brain cancer cells by a process known as autophagy.
Consistent with the in vitro data, administration of THC to mice with human tumors decreased tumor growth and induced the tumor cells to undergo autophagy. As analysis of tumors from two patients with recurrent glioblastoma multiforme (a highly aggressive brain tumor) receiving intracranial THC administration showed signs of autophagy, the authors suggest that cannabinoid administration may provide a new approach to targeting human cancers.
Cannabinoid action induces autophagy-mediated cell death through stimulation of ER stress in human glioma cells.
The other day, I was speaking to an older gentleman about the use of cannabis by young people. His opinion was one that we at blogginghigh.com come across quite often: If youth are allowed to smoke marijuana, what stops them from experimenting with drugs, such as heroin or cocaine, that (unlike marijuana) can result in permanent, if not fatal, damage to the user? (this kind of thinking is what causes marijuana to be called the “Gateway Drug”)
Here’s what I told this person, and what I think you should tell anyone who thinks that using marijuana would lead people to try using life-threatening drugs such as heroin and cocaine.
1. While scientists have long held the “gateway drug” theory to be erroneous, a study at the University of Pittsburgh in December 2006 proved that “the likelihood that someone will transition to the use of illegal drugs is determined not by the preceding use of a particular drug, but instead by the user’s individual tendencies and environmental circumstances. The use of marijuana is no more an indicator of further drug use than cigarettes, chocolate or coffee. Read the rest of this entry »

After globetrotting thru various countries in different continents, I feel I need to edumacate fellow tokers on certain dilemmas you might face in different parts of the world. For instance, marihuana is the common as well as the most preferred choice for stoners in north america but as you move out to the far east an the big subcontinent it is hash that is easily an readily available. Seasoned smokers of both kind can tell the good stuff from the cheap stuff an it also helps a great deal if you have a friend who is “local” for she/he will be able to secure you the a-grade stuff. So thank you purple knickers!!!
Below is a descriptive image for you to help you better understand what is what and to edumacate yourself as well cause if you happen to find yourself in far flung places, then atleast you can thank blogginghigh for preparing you well.
In order to play Taxi, you must first choose the number of tokes (hits) to take per turn. (Two tokes is a good starting point.) Gather everyone into a circle and have the first player hit the joint. Player 1 will then pass
the joint to the left without exhaling. Each player must hold their breath until the joint works itself around the entire circle and back to him/her. If any player fails to hold their breath (laughs, chokes, etc.) until the joint has made a full loop around the circle, that player is skipped on the following round.
