California tax board: Legal pot could generate $1.4 billion

1.4 billion times 50 +  all the money saved by not arresting and prosecuting nature lovers = a whole lotta money to bailout some more banks :)

From Sacbee.com

“California could see a nearly $1.4 billion per year increase in state revenues were it to legalize marijuana, the state Board of Equalization says in an analysis of pending legislation to to do that.

The bill (Assembly Bill 390) by Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, D-San Francisco, is still awaiting its first committee hearing and is likely not to be considered until next year. It would impose not only sales taxes but a $50 per ounce fee on marijuana sales, which would be licensed by the state much as alcoholic beverages are regulated.

Mr.Obama, Legalize that Drug!!

A new poll suggests that a majority of Americans are in favor of taxing and regulating the sale of marijuana.

From the Huffington Post:

Majority of Americans want Pot Legalized: Zogby Poll

A majority of Americans, in a poll released Wednesday, say it “makes sense to tax and regulate” marijuana. The Zogby poll, commissioned by the conservative-leaning O’Leary Report, surveyed 3,937 voters and found 52 percent in favor of legalization. Only 37 percent opposed.

A previous ABC News/Washington Post poll found 46 percent in support. In California, a Field Poll found 56 percent backing legalization.

Responding to the poll at a press conference Tuesday, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger called for an open debate on legalization.

Voters were asked: “Scarce law enforcement and prison resources, a desire to neutralize drug cartels and the need for new sources of revenue have resurrected the topic of legalizing marijuana. Proponents say it makes sense to tax and regulate the drug while opponents say that legalization would lead marijuana users to use other illegal drugs. Would you favor or oppose the government’s effort to legalize marijuana?”

52 percent. And… ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER. Do it now, Mr. Obama

If Weed was legalized; we would…

have little cafes like this one; where you and your homies would meet up everday- about 2-3 times a day and grab a coffee and a joint and relax and come up with amazing ideas and business ventures like starting up a website where you blog about nothing else but nature related thoughts, images and videos. You would laugh, make fun off, reminise, joke about all the good times and enjoy the moment as if it was you’re last. One of your homies would get so high and generous, that he/she would decide to walk up to the counter and buy the rest of you some triple chocolate fudge cake and ask the staff to melt the cake just a little so the chocolate icing melts on the cake creating that rich sultury look while omiting a sweeet sweeeet chocolate flavor odor filling the cafe room with goodness. And we would all jump on the tables hold hands and sing KUMBAYA! oh! what a wonderful world we live in. Life is WONDERFUL!

Legalize It ….

Posted by Papa Roach On January - 14 - 2009

Pot smokers get a bad rep thanks to the shmucks from the post below. Let me tell you, these jackasses do not epitomize weed smokers. Weed smokers are fun, happy and mellow all the time. The government should seriously look into legalizing weed or the least they could do is not prosecute individuals who are found with possession of an eighth (re: class is in session pt.1 under edumacational). That will in effect free up the prosecutor’s office so they can spend more time fighting cases that matter most, I mean afterall theres more serious an harmful drugs than weed out there. Then again that’s my two cents.
